Keepin' It Local: Five of My Favorite Summer Experiences
Whether you've just started that new job and can't take holiday for the foreseeable future, or you're trying to save some time and money by staying local this summer, here are five of my favorite warm-weather activities that will seemingly transport you thousands of miles away from the hustle and bustle (without so much as leaving the vicinity)!

The Honorable William Wall
My favorite floating bar with killer views of the 'Lady and NYC. Tickets are $20 and you can bring your own food onboard!

"The Honorable William Wall, affectionately called the “Willy Wall,” is Manhattan Yacht Club’s floating clubhouse. This Clubhouse is anchored in New York Harbor just north of Ellis Island from May through October.
The Clubhouse serves as a spectator platform for members and guests to watch sailing races, and as an event space for corporate and member parties.
The downstairs Champagne Bar is a Members-only space. The upper deck is open to Members and the public. The Clubhouse is an important public-outreach program of our Club and helps introduce many more people each year to sailing in New York Harbor.
The launch fee to ride out to the Honorable William Wall is $20 per person. Manhattan Yacht Club Members receive 50% off drinks onboard."
Wolffer Estate Vineyards & The Wine Stand in Sagaponack
Long Island's most gorgeous vineyard and summer hang-out space! Oh, and the wine's pretty damn good, too.
Battery Park/City
If you only have a few hours to spare, make your way to the southwest of Manhattan and enjoy some peace and tranquility in Battery Park/City. Stroll along the water or via the quiet neighborhood streets shaded by sprawling, voluptuous trees. If only I worked closer to this neighborhood, I would move here in a New York minute!

Row boating at The Loeb Boathouse (Central Park)
In the twelve years that I've lived in Manhattan, I am ashamed to admit that I had never been row boating in Central Park! Luckily, this status changed upon my goddaughter's recent visit in June. For $15/hour, you can row your way across an expansive body of water and work on your tan, biceps, and romantic one-liners.

William Vale Hotel's outdoor pool
If you're more of a 'pool person' than someone who enjoys removing beach sand out of hard-to-reach body crevices, then we're on the same team!
Outdoor pools are a rarity in NYC, and it's something that I crave in the summer. Recently, my friends and I bought day passes to the pool at the William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), and enjoyed a rose-all-day afternoon filled with sun, fun, great jams, and even better views. Think 'Vegas meets Brooklyn.'
